The Protocol Driver holds a crucial position responsible for ensuring the secure and efficient transportation of the High Commissioner, Mission officials, and other dignitaries.

The position is vital for maintaining the mission’s image and adhering to diplomatic protocol.
Profile
The ideal Protocol Driver should:
- Hold a minimum qualification of a high school diploma.
- Have a minimum of five years’ proven experience as a protocol driver in a similar role.
- Possess a valid work permit and travel documents.
- Demonstrate good knowledge of the High Commission’s jurisdiction and key stakeholders’ addresses.
Skills and Competencies
- Possess a valid and clean driver’s license (Category B).
- Demonstrate experience as a professional driver, preferably in a diplomatic or corporate setting.
- Familiarity with local traffic laws and regulations.
- Strong knowledge of security protocols and defensive driving techniques.
- Excellent communication skills with fluency in English, French, or both.
- Impeccable punctuality and reliability.
- Maintain a courteous and diplomatic demeanor.
- Ability to handle stress and emergencies calmly and effectively.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to safety.
Key Responsibilities
Responsibilities of the Protocol Driver include:
- Transportation Services: Safely operate the protocol car and other mission vehicles, ensuring timely arrival and departure for official engagements, meetings, and events. Maintain cleanliness and proper maintenance of mission vehicles.
- Protocol and Etiquette: Adhere to dress code, diplomatic protocol, and etiquette to ensure proper conduct during transportation and at official events.
- Security and Safety: Follow all safety and security protocols, including regular vehicle inspections, compliance with traffic laws, and adherence to mission-specific security procedures. Be prepared to respond calmly and effectively to emergencies or security incidents.
- Vehicle Maintenance: Monitor vehicle maintenance schedules, report any issues promptly, and ensure vehicles are in good working condition and adequately fueled.
- Documentation and Records: Maintain accurate records of vehicle mileage, maintenance, and fuel consumption. Complete vehicle logs and incident reports as necessary.
- Confidentiality: Handle all information related to the High Commissioner’s schedule and movements with the utmost confidentiality.
- Teamwork: Collaborate with the Executive Assistant, Communication Specialist, diplomats, and other staff to coordinate transportation needs for official visits and events.
