Requirements
Candidates for the Cleaner positions should meet the following requirements:
- An ABET certificate or a relevant qualification.
- Cleaning experience in a laboratory environment is an added advantage.
- Basic knowledge of cleaning principles.
- Basic knowledge of chemical use, including dilution/mixing.
- Understanding of cleaning equipment.
- Knowledge of health and safety requirements.
- Knowledge of record-keeping.
- Basic understanding and application of laboratory safety rules.
- Basic understanding of the correct use of chemicals.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Duties and Responsibilities
As a Cleaner, your responsibilities will include:
- Cleaning the laboratory and equipment.
- Proper disposal of laboratory waste according to established procedures.
- Cleaning glass and plastic ware in accordance with procedures.
- Handling and connecting gas cylinders.
- Completing relevant forms to ensure the traceability of laboratory activities.
- Managing inventory of cleaning materials and requesting supplies as needed.
- Cleaning storerooms, kitchen, offices, corridors, and boardrooms, and any other designated areas.
- Emptying waste bins and preparing boardrooms for meetings.
- Arranging crockery, utensils, and cutlery for meetings.
- Washing and maintaining stock of crockery, utensils, and cutlery.
- Filling and refilling drinking water containers.
- Cleaning restrooms and replenishing hand wash liquid and toilet paper.
- Reporting any broken machines and equipment.
