Revenue Accountant Post at the South African Revenue Service
As a Revenue Accountant, you will be responsible for accounting, reconciliation, bank reconciliation, and exception handling within the Revenue Accounting team, in accordance with accounting best practices. The key deliverables of the role are:

Identify discrepancies and risks associated with reconciling financial accounts,

SAP can be used to create logical reports and analyze them,

Provide assistance/guidance when needed by formulating the correct solution, engaging the appropriate person, etc.

Ensure correct and accurate accounting entries and actions are collected and processed,

Maintain proper audit trail documentation while following strict segregation of duties.
It is essential that the candidate has strong accounting knowledge and experience, and is capable of applying accounting principles in various fields, project environments, and system testing where needed. As part of this role, the individual will provide support to.
Customs Revenue Accounting team members and Customs Business/SARS Operations, as well as ad hoc assistance to Revenue Accounting team members and other SARS departments.
As a prerequisite, you must be familiar with SARS revenue accounting systems, general ledgers, accrual, and cash accounting, as well as SARS’ strategy and how it impacts the clusters’ key objectives. Experience with SAP accounting functionalities and advanced Excel skills is required.
Job Purpose
Analyze, prepare, review, and process financial related transactions, reconcile clear and balance accounts, resolve queries/discrepancies, and generate reports.
Education and Experience
An appropriate National Accounting Diploma / Advanced Accounting Certificate (NQF 6) AND 1-2 years’ knowledge worker experience in a similar financial environment
