This opportunity is open for individuals with a Matric qualification who are interested in contributing to the charging and blasting functions at open-cast mines.

Enaex Africa Explosives Operator Community Learnerships 2023/2024

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Adhere to all customer rules and procedures when operating at customer sites.
  • Collaborate with the Explosives Controller in routine fault finding, troubleshooting, maintenance, and repairs on the MMU process plant and chassis.
  • Support the Site Administrator in stock control activities.
  • Safely load and unload the MMU with the correct raw materials.
  • Close blast holes using the appropriate stemming material.
  • Act as a blast guard when required.
  • Conduct cleaning and decontamination of the MMU.
  • Identify and report any abnormal conditions on the MMU and within the work area to the Explosives Controller and/or Site Supervisor.
  • Maintain ownership of bulk explosives MMU through good housekeeping of the cab, chassis, and plant.


To be eligible for the Explosives Operator Community Learnership, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Reside in the Northern Cape Province and surrounding communities.
  • Be 18 years or older.
  • Have completed N3 or Grade 12.
  • Possess a clear criminal record.
  • Be medically fit for duty.
