This one-year advanced master’s course is designed to educate professionals in the field of human rights and democratisation.

EMA is one of the eight Regional Master’s Programmes organized by the Global Campus of Human Rights, established with the support of the European Union and 43 universities from EU member states, the United Kingdom, and Switzerland.
Course Description
The Master’s degree adopts an action- and policy-oriented approach, encompassing legal, political, historical, anthropological, and philosophical perspectives.
Areas of study include Human Rights Institutions, Mechanisms and Standards; Human Rights in Context; Globalisation, Development, and Human Rights; Building and Protecting Democracy; and Human Rights, Peace, and Security.

EMA serves as a foundation for careers in national, international, governmental, inter-governmental, and non-governmental organizations, as well as academic institutions focusing on human rights and democratisation.
Scholarship Coverage
The tuition fee for the academic year 2024/2025 is 5650.00€, payable in two installments.
It covers all EMA courses, reading materials, tutoring, access to the Global Campus’ library, lunch on class and exam days, e-learning platform access, IT facilities, and a field trip (subject to budget approval).
However, it does not cover accommodation, subsistence, travel costs, or visa expenses.
Course Programme
EMA is a residential and exchange programme. The first semester is held at Global Campus Headquarters in Venice, and the second semester takes place at one of the 43 participating universities. The programme includes lectures, seminars, workshops, tutorials, skill-building sessions, and individual research.
How To Apply
EMA is open to EU and non-EU citizens. Selection criteria include academic ability, background, additional academic work, practical experience, motivation, and language competence.
Applicants need a high-standard university degree relevant to human rights and a minimum of 180 ECTS. Certified fluency in English is required.
