IT Service Desk Internship Opportunity at Lancet Laboratories

As an IT Service Desk Intern, you will work under the direct supervision of a senior Desktop Support Engineer or Service Desk Engineer, assisting the Service Desk Team in providing quality technology support. Your role will involve delivering desktop support to ensure all system users’ equipment functions according to departmental and organizational requirements.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Education: Grade 12 or relevant NQF level 4 qualification, Relevant IT Certificate, or actively pursuing an IT qualification.
  • Experience: 3 to 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Relevant Job Knowledge: Ability to use initiative, effective communication, planning and organization skills, and strong time management.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Task prioritization and execution in line with supervisor guidance.
  • Capturing and reporting task progress and completion for management updates.
  • Providing basic instruction to system users on hardware and software usage.
  • Monitoring new tasks on Meditech, assessing their urgency, and allocating resources efficiently.
  • Following up on outstanding tasks to ensure successful completion.
  • Accepting technical support emails and calls, and logging IT Department inquiries.
  • Troubleshooting and resolving hardware, software, network, and server issues remotely.
  • Assisting the Service Desk team in technology support, equipment deployment, software installations, inventory management, and printer issues.
