IT Technician Vacancy at the Department of Traditional Affairs
Requirements:
At least two years’ experience in ICT, as well as an NQF 6/7 qualification in Information Technology, Computer Science, or Information Systems, is required. The generic/process competencies include excellent diagnostic and problem solving skills, communication skills, organisation and time management, computer skills, and interpersonal skills. The technical competencies include hardware components and troubleshooting procedures.
Windows, Microsoft Exchange, and Active Directory are all Microsoft desktop operating systems and software. You will also gain a deep understanding of diverse computer systems and networks.
Duties:
The successful candidate will perform the following duties: Install and maintain computer systems and networks to achieve the maximum functionality and optimise the role of technology: Set up workstations with computers and peripheral devices (routers, printers etc), check the hardware to ensure functionality,
Install and configure computer hardware, operating systems and applications, create and maintain local networks, ensure network security and privacy, identify aging hardware and software; Assist end users with IT-related issues and service requests;
Maintain a reliable and stable network environment: Install and configure LAN and WAN devices, install and configure Wi-Fi access points, install and configure the Wi-Fi client on users’ computers, monitor LAN and WAN performance, troubleshoot LAN and WAN issues;
Organize and schedule maintenance, upgrade systems to enable compatible software, perform tests on new hardware and software; Maintain service records.
