Salary and Benefits

Duties and Responsibilities

As an Assistant Officer, your responsibilities will include:

  • Scheduling appointments for psychologists, counsellors, and social workers.
  • Handling reception, telephone calls, appointments, and inquiries.
  • Managing client files and capturing data electronically.
  • Responding to email inquiries.
  • General office administration.
  • Scheduling meetings and maintaining agendas and minutes.
  • Quality control of the reception area.
  • Collaboration with the student administrative intern.
  • Assisting with financial administration.
  • Handling SADAG (South African Depression and Anxiety Group) administration.
  • Organizing SCD (Student Counselling and Development) campaigns.
  • Representing SCD at UFS marketing activities and expanding marketing initiatives.

Job Requirements

Inherent Job Requirements:

  • Grade 12 or national vocational certificate on NQF level 4.

Recommendations:

  • A relevant higher certificate, diploma, national diploma, or degree.
  • Six months of administrative experience in a Higher Education setting.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Programs.
  • Familiarity with UFS Systems and Programs.
  • Effective time management skills and the ability to work under pressure.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Sesotho and Zulu.
  • Experience in working with students in a counseling setting within Higher Education.
