Grade 12 and a minimum National Diploma (equivalent to NQF level 6) or Bachelor’s Degree (equivalent to NQF level 7) in any of the following disciplines; Computer Science, Accounting, Economics, or Business Economics or Management are required. A minimum of 3 years’ experience in database development, data warehousing, and data integration is required.

Knowledge and experience in report creation; and knowledge and experience in utilizing Microsoft Office products, with an emphasis on Microsoft Excel manipulation.

Duties

Some key outputs include: Data Storage; Assist in the development of a formal database containing provincial revenue and expenditure data covering all aspects of the budget cycle, Participate in the review of the data model to improve data management and data extraction and reporting efficiency.

Assist in the development of reporting systems, templates and tools, which are used internally and externally to provide accurate and reliable data. Enhance processes and procedures regarding automation and data extraction from financial systems for reporting purposes, Data Integrity; Apply classification standards, circulars, and practice notes consistently and correctly, Maintain provincial data between the National Treasury and other institutions,

Contribute to the consistency of data application by assisting with the application of changes to the Economic Reporting Format and Standard Chart of Accounts to history data, Data analysis; Provide technical support to internal and external clients regarding data analysis tools and techniques, and Provide provincial data for Treasury publications and internal and external documents.

The National Treasury utilizes an e-Recruitment system, effective from 7 April 2021, which means all applicants must login/register to apply for positions as we no longer accept applications via email or hand delivery/post. In order to test the relevant technical elements of the job, all shortlisted candidates for SMS posts will be subjected to a technical exercise, the details of which will be communicated by the Department. Prior to finalisation of appointment, candidates must complete the Nyukela Public Service SMS Preentry Programme, endorsed by the National School of Government, which can be found on https://www.thensg.gov.za/trainingcourse/sms-preentry-programme.

We will conduct all qualification, criminal, and SA citizenship checks on all shortlisted candidates and, where necessary, additional checks as well. All foreign qualifications (including O and A level certificates) must be evaluated by the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA), and this is not negotiable.
