Purpose
Providing first and second line support to all Johannesburg Water employees is the responsibility of the IT Desktop support technician.
Technicians are responsible for resolving customer support requests and delivering continuous service.
In a dynamic environment, our IT desktop support staff provides assistance via phone, email, and in person.
Key Responsibilities
The installation and configuration of all new desktops, laptops, printers, scanners, and ICT peripherals for all Johannesburg Water sites.
The desktops, laptops, printers, scanners, and ICT peripherals must be properly labelled and tagged (asset tag).
Help troubleshoot desktops, laptops, printers, scanners, and ICT peripherals with technical support (analyse, diagnose & resolve problems).
Assess the problem, implement temporary or permanent fixes, and escalate incidents to other support teams if necessary.
The IT helpdesk system can be used to update IT incidents requests. In the Hardware Asset Management register, make sure all desktops, laptops, printers, scanners, and ICT peripherals are registered.
ITHelpdesk and IT Manager for Business Support should be informed of important (P2) support issues
Contacts. All desktop support base build software must be installed and configured on desktops and laptops.
We provide technical support for desktop base build software (on site, remotely, via phone or email).
On desktops and laptops, make sure the latest anti-virus software is installed. Prepare IMAC forms for existing and new equipment. Prepare FA5 forms for PC equipment that is replaced or moved.
Audit desktops, laptops, printers, and ICT peripherals. Assist internal IT staff and customers with technical issues and escalate these as needed to ensure smooth business application processes.
Job Requirements
Essential qualifications and experience:
• Grade 12 (NQF 4)
• Certified in CompTIA A+, Certified in CompTIA N+
• Seven (7) years IT Technical Desktop Support experience
• Driving License (code EB) and own transport
