Musina Local Municipality Mayor Fund Bursary 2024. The Mayor’s Fund Bursary 2024, facilitated by the Musina Local Municipality, is calling for applications from eligible learners.
The initiative aims to support academically inclined individuals from disadvantaged backgrounds who face financial obstacles in accessing tertiary education.
The closing date for applications is set for 05 January 2024.
BURSARY COVERAGE
This bursary, managed through the Mayor’s office and referred to as the Mayor’s Bursary Fund, will cover crucial aspects of education:
- Registration
- Tuition fees
- Books
- Accommodation
While acknowledging the widespread need within the Municipality, the fund is limited, serving as a stepping stone for a select few learners towards a brighter future.
ELIGIBILITY/SELECTION CRITERIA
To qualify:
- Applicants must be residents of Musina Local Municipality.
- Parents should be unemployed, classified as indigent, or earning less than R3500pm.
- Learners must be in grade 12 or have passed grade 12 in the current financial year.
- Preference will be given to those who have successfully completed grade 12.
- Special cases evaluated by the Mayor aim to assist learners with potential from disadvantaged communities, unable to access tertiary education.
BURSARY TERMS AND CONDITIONS
Certain conditions and exclusions apply:
- Children of Councilors and officials are ineligible.
- Successful candidates are expected to serve the Municipality for a minimum of one (1) year up to the equivalent number of years the bursary covered.
- Monitoring systems ensure successful completion of studies.
- Stipulations exist regarding what the bursary cannot cover, outlined in the agreement.
- Misconduct may result in the loss of benefits, adhering to a specific code of conduct.
- Provision of semester or half-year results is mandatory.

Tuition fees will be directly paid to the institution upon registration.
HOW TO APPLY
Application details:
- A Bursary Committee will oversee the application process and learner selection.
- Eligible applicants must submit applications on the prescribed form along with necessary documents to the Bursary Committee.
- Successful candidates will receive written and telephonic notification.
- Application requirements include proof of residence, a school principal’s reference letter (for Grade 12), certified copies of IDs/birth certificates for the student and parents/guardian, an affidavit from the parent or guardian, and certified Grade 12 June results.
