Creating more professional training opportunities for prospective Chartered Accountants is part of the City of Johannesburg Metropolitan Municipality’s commitment to increasing financial management skills within the public sector.

Training in financial management and all its disciplines will be provided as part of the programme, which will provide trainees with the opportunity to gain valuable experience in the field, as well as exposure to a variety of management functions and business operations within local government.

With the intention of retaining chartered accountants trained in local government, the program aims to strengthen the public sector financial skills base.

It is structured in such a way that the trainees are exposed to key areas over a period of three (3) years, with Accounting and External Reporting as the core competencies, as well as Financial Management and Management Decision Making and Control as electives. We will offer competitive salaries to trainees based on market conditions.

  • Qualifications are open to all qualified TRAINEES in the Johannesburg Community for a period of three years.
  • A circular describing the job opportunity is available for interested applicants.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Grade 12 (NQF 4) plus a Certificate in the Theory of Accounting (CTA) from a SAICA accredited University;
  • 0 – 1 years’ experience;
  • Preference will be given to Johannesburg residents.
  • Qualify to write the ITC examination.
