Principal Industrial Technician Post at the Department of Water and Sanitation

Requirements:

As a candidate, you must possess an appropriate National Diploma in Mechanical Engineering; you must have four (4) years post-graduation experience in workshops (minor and major plants) in construction of workshops, dams, and roadworks; you must possess the following skills and attributes: machinery,

Planning and organizing, safety, computer, finance, HR issues, advanced skills in performing engineering technical duties in maintaining and operating various equipment, project management, interpersonal relations, general administration, computer and report writing skills. A valid driver’s license with at least code 8 (attach a copy) is required. Excellent communication skills, ability to work under pressure, ability to work in a team, willingness to work irregular hours.

Duties:

It will be incumbent’s responsibility to plan and allocate resources within his/her section that contribute to work processes.Monitor expenses related to projects for which they are directly responsible for junior staff and day to day supervision and in house training; Liaise with multidisciplinary line function areas within the Department to gather information required to process designs, provide advice, or construct structures; Coordinates support functional areas with supply chain, human resources, and finance needs;

Provide guidance and advice to other personnel, consultants, and independent contractors; Design equipment, systems, structures and installations; Inspect and/or test equipment, systems, structures and installations; Compile quantity lists for tender purposes; Build and develop new/existing equipment. Execute instructions from supervisor and support site management.
