This program aims to support students pursuing various fields of study and subsequently encourages their integration into the organization as interns upon completion of their studies.

About Silulumanzi

Silulumanzi, an essential entity within the City of Mbombela Local Municipality, diligently provides safe drinking water, supplying approximately 120 million litres daily to meet the needs of around 400,000 people.

As a subsidiary of SAWW, it operates under a 30-year concession contract, ensuring consistent water services to the community.

Established in 1999, Silulumanzi boasts over two decades of expertise in the water industry.

Initially drawing from international partnerships with entities like Sembcorp, Cascal, and BiWater, it has evolved into a proudly South African operation, emphasizing local skill development.

Silulumanzi extends an invitation to aspiring students and undergraduates interested in contributing to the Water Industry. The External Bursary Scheme supports studies in various fields:

  • BSc Electrical Engineering (heavy/light current)
  • BSc Chemical Engineering
  • BSc Civil Engineering
  • BSc Mechanical Engineering
  • BSc Information Technology
  • BSc Quantity Survey
  • BSc Biology
  • ND Environmental Science
  • ND Water Care
  • Fitting including Machinery
  • Millwright
  • Fitter and Turner
  • Instrumentation Mechanical

REQUIREMENTS AND SPONSORSHIP DETAILS

To be eligible, applicants must hold a Grade 12 with a Bachelor Pass, achieving a Level 6 pass in Mathematics and Science. The sponsorship includes coverage for registration fees, tuition, accommodation, prescribed books or study materials, and is open to South African citizens within Silulumanzi’s operational areas.

Preference will be given to previously disadvantaged individuals, people with disabilities, females, and citizens residing in specific contractual concession areas where Silulumanzi operates.

How To Apply

Application forms are obtainable at Silulumanzi Customer Care Offices located in KaNyamazane, Matsulu, and Mbombela/Nelspruit.

Completed forms can be submitted via post or hand-delivered to the Bursary Department at the provided address.

The deadline for applications is December 15, 2023. Only shortlisted candidates will receive further communication.

The bursary renews annually based on academic performance, with the condition that recipients join Silulumanzi as interns for a duration equivalent to the sponsorship received upon graduation.
