The National Treasury of South Africa is hiring an Economist who would focus on International Organisations

Coordination of the relationship between the Organisation for Economic Coordination and Development (OECD) and the World Economic Forum (WEF) through coordination of stakeholder engagement and secretariat for the South African Government, analysis of policies, and coordination of National Treasury content for the Minister for Finance’s participation in OECD, WEF, and WEFA meetings.).

The National Treasury of South Africa is hiring an Economist who would focus on International Organisations

  • Salary: R527,298.00 – R617,622.00 per annum (Excl. benefits)

Qualification/s Requirements

  • The minimum requirement is a Grade 12 diploma along with a bachelor’s degree in Economics or Political Science (equivalent to NQF level 7);

  • An experience of at least three years within a development institution/financial environment; knowledge of policy analysis and drafting notes;

  • Research and benchmarking experience.

Key Performance Areas

Stakeholder Engagement

  • In relation to the OECD, WEF, and WEFA, provide secretariat support to the South African Government Departments;

  • Participate in stakeholder engagement and support the coordination process; and

  • Provide information on relationship management with regard to the OECD, WEF, and WEFA.

OECD Ministerial and other OECD activities

  • Provide assistance in the preparation of submissions pertaining to policy positions addressed to the OECD regarding policy dialogues;

  • Assist with the preparation of briefings and speaking notes for the OECD Ministerial Meeting; and

  • Participate in the organization of the OECD Ministerial Meeting and any other activities related to the OECD.

WEF Annual Meeting

  • Assist in the compilation of the WEF Annual Meeting key message documents;

  • Assist in the coordination of input from the National Treasury into the Presidential Briefing Book;

  • Provide assistance with the interdepartmental meetings for the preparation of the WEF Annual Meeting as well as the preparation of the agendas and invitations;

  • The provision of administrative and logistical support for the hosting of the South African delegation’s pre-WEF breakfast at the WEF Annual Meeting; and

  • Contribute to the WEF Annual Meeting inputs (briefings and speaking notes).

WEFA

  • Provide administrative and logistical support for WEFA’s bi-annual meeting;

  • Provide assistance with the preparation of the WEFA Bi-Annual Meeting, including agendas, invitations, etc.

  • Contribute to the WEFA Bi-Annual Meeting preparations (briefings and speaking notes).

Research

  • Research policy areas relevant to OECD, WEF and WEFA work; and

  • Provide research support for the use and enhancement of briefing and speaking notes.
