UCT Bertha Centre Seeks Junior Research Fellow for 2024/2025. The University of Cape Town’s Bertha Centre seeks a Junior Research Fellow focused on social innovation and climate adaptation for the Andre Hoffman Fellowship.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

The Hoffman Junior Research Fellow will:

  • Conduct stakeholder analysis in social innovation for climate adaptation.
  • Develop a global landscape analysis of climate adaptation through social innovation.
  • Engage with UCT teams, aiding design thinking workshops and project support.
  • Document insights into moving climate adaptation ideas into practice.
  • Create case studies of private-public partnerships in climate innovation.
  • Assess market potential for social innovation in climate adaptation sectors.
  • Research climate finance’s role in social innovation solutions.
  • Contribute to knowledge dissemination through blogs, reports, and academic papers.
  • Assist in strategy development for companies and civil society in climate adaptation.

Applicants should hold a postgraduate qualification in relevant fields, demonstrate understanding of climate adaptation and social innovation, possess stakeholder engagement experience, and exhibit excellent communication skills.

They must be adaptable, organized, and capable of managing multiple priorities.

TERMS OF APPOINTMENT

The Junior Research Fellow will be employed on a fixed-term contract for two years. The fellowship funding is non-renewable. The annual salary ranges from R544,000 to R750,000, commensurate with experience.
