As a Youth Ambassador, you’ll be equipped with the knowledge and skills to shape policies that safeguard the Internet while contributing to a better world. You’ll also have the opportunity to attend a carefully chosen event tailored to your preferences, profile, and location.

Join the ranks of the Internet Society’s Youth Ambassadors! Each year, we select fifteen passionate young individuals to participate in our Youth Ambassador Program, nurturing the next generation of Internet leaders dedicated to collaboration and innovation for a better world.

PROGRAMME BENEFITS

This program offers you the chance to:

• Attend a significant Internet event customized to your preferences and location.
• Enhance your expertise in Internet governance through specialized online training.
• Expand your advocacy, communication, project management, and leadership skills.
• Engage and collaborate with key Internet stakeholders from across the globe.
• Be mentored by prominent Internet leaders and experts.
• Develop the skills and connections necessary to make a more profound impact in your local community and beyond.

REQUIREMENTS

All applicants must:

• Be between the ages of 18-30 at the time of application submission.
• Possess strong English reading, speaking, and writing skills.
• Feel comfortable with public speaking and expressing their viewpoints.
• Maintain consistent access to the Internet throughout the program, along with the necessary equipment.
• Dedicate a minimum of 4 hours per week during the entire program duration.
• Be available to participate in weekly meetings and webinars, typically held between 11:00 and 16:00 UTC.
• Be prepared to travel and hold a valid passport.
• Not have previously been selected as an Internet Society’s IGF Ambassador, IGF Youth Ambassador, Youth@IGF Fellow, or Youth Ambassador.

SELECTION PROCESS

The selection process is an annual event, with applications opening in October for each intake. It comprises two phases:

1. Online Application A selection committee reviews all applications to choose the Youth Ambassadors. This committee, consisting of Internet Society staff, alumni, and Chapter/Special Interest Group/Standing Group leaders, strives to ensure diversity in terms of profession, geography, and gender among the selected candidates.
2. Online Internet Governance Course The highest-scoring applicants will participate in an online course on Internet Governance. Participants will be divided into three classes, each led by a dedicated tutor to facilitate the learning process. The program will ultimately select the top 15 students.
