Requirements:
Three (3) years relevant qualification in Labour Relations/ BCOM Law/ LLB. Valid driver’s license. Knowledge of Departmental Policies and Procedures, Skills Development Act, Labour Relations Act, Basic Conditions of Employment Act, Unemployment I
nsurance Act, and the Unemployment Insurance Contribution Act.Among my skills are: facilitation, planning and organising (own work), computer skills (Spreadsheets, Power Point and word processing), interpersonal skills, problem solving, interviewing, analytical skills, verbal communication, and knowledge of the Employment Equity Act.
Duties:
Maintain compliance with all labour legislations by conducting occupational inspections. Investigate reported cases of labour legislation violations and enforce them where and when necessary. Conduct proactive (Blitz) inspections to monitor compliance with labour legislation on a regular basis. Conduct advocacy campaigns on identified and allocated labour legislation. Prepare inspection plans, reports, and statistics on assigned cases.

The course is available at the NSG under the name Certificate for entry into SMS. Shortlisted candidates for SMS posts will be required to participate in a technical competency test to determine the relevant technical aspects of the job. DPSA SMS competency assessment tools will be used by the selection panel to assess generic managerial competencies following the interview and technical exercise.
