Transport Officer Vacancy at the Department of Higher Education and Training

Requirements:

Graduating from grade 12/NCV L4. Diploma/Degree in Management, Public Management, Business Management with 3 years relevant experience in the Logistics and Transport environment. A valid driver’s license. Leadership skills, analytical skills, good financial management skills, computer literacy.

Understanding of Transport and Travel policies, administrative delegations, and prescriptions. Ability to communicate (written and verbally); Report-writing skills; Problem-solving skills; Planning and organizing skills. Understanding of legislation. Ability to work under pressure.

Duties:

The responsibility of managing vehicles on a day-to-day basis is to ensure log sheets are maintained and completed for all trips. Maintain maintenance schedules and coordinate maintenance requirements. Compile accident reports and follow up on them. Plan travel.

Handle queries and liaise with different departments/units regarding fleet vehicles and travel-related issues. Verify travel documents and issue order numbers. Process payments efficiently. It is the responsibility of the section to verify that the invoices of services rendered are authentic, accurate and correct. Supervise college drivers. Process traffic fines. Manage the section’s budget and administrative services. Monitor and advise on compliance with the Transport and Travel Policy.
