Apply Now for the 2024 MISA Technical Bursary Programme. The Department of Cooperative Governance (DCoG) is accepting applications for the MISA Technical Bursary Programme 2024.
The closing date for applications is December 31, 2023.
While not exclusively limited to individuals from previously disadvantaged communities, preference will be given to qualifying candidates from rural areas or households with an annual income below R600,000.
MISA encourages applications from people with disabilities and youths from previously disadvantaged backgrounds.
About MISA
The Municipal Infrastructure Support Agent (MISA) operates under the Ministry of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs, established in accordance with the Public Service Act.
MISA focuses on enhancing the technical capacity of municipalities for efficient infrastructure planning, delivery, operations, and maintenance.
The agency aims to develop a pipeline of Built Environment professionals in Local Government.

Bursary Study Fields Available
Applicants can apply for undergraduate studies in the following fields:
- Civil Engineering: 20 slots in universities, 5 in universities of technology, 5 in TVET colleges (Total: 30)
- Electrical Engineering: 25 slots in universities, 5 in universities of technology, 10 in TVET colleges (Total: 40)
- Project and Construction Management: 5 slots in universities (Total: 5)
- Town/Urban and Regional Planning: 10 slots in universities, 5 in universities of technology (Total: 15)
- Environmental Management: 5 slots in universities (Total: 5)
Eligibility/Selection Criteria
Applicants must provide various documents including ID, academic records, proof of registration, and proof of household income below R600,000. Detailed criteria and necessary documents are specified in the application guidelines.
