The Data Scientist (Intern) role involves leveraging data mining, artificial intelligence, machine learning, and statistical tools to provide insights and identify improvement opportunities.
Specifically, the role supports process and design enhancements at Discovery Bank, aiming to optimize end-to-end processes and client journeys.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Mining large datasets to extract insights into client behavior and process performance
- Analyzing trends using statistical and machine learning techniques to take advantage of identified patterns
- Presenting results in a comprehensible manner for actionable insights by stakeholders
- Operationalizing visual reports for continuous measurement of critical metrics
- Advising on process and database improvements across the business
Qualifications and Experience
- Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science, Data Science, Statistics, or Mathematics. Honors or master’s degree is advantageous.
- Skills: Proficiency in Python, R, SQL, Scala, SAS, MS Office. Understanding of statistical concepts and strong communication skills.
- Attributes: Self-driven, analytical, capable of working under pressure.
