Editorial Assistant Internship at Human Sciences Research Council (HSRC)
The Africa Institute of South Africa (AISA) plays a pivotal role in the HSRC’s African engagements. AISA serves as a catalyst for research and implementation support across the continent. It conducts essential research and provides policy advice and implementation support.
AISA’s work contributes to the HSRC’s Africa Research Partnership and Collaboration Strategy, South Africa’s African Agenda, the Department of Science and Innovation’s (DSI) Africa Strategy, the Southern African Development Community’s (SADC) Regional Indicative Strategic Development Plan 2020-2030 (RISDP), the African Union’s Agenda 2063, and the United Nations’ key frameworks (SDGs and UNSCR 1325).
AISA collaborates with national, continental, and international governments, multilateral institutions, research organizations, universities, and civil society entities to achieve its objectives. Currently, AISA is seeking an Editorial Assistant Intern to support its initiatives.

Position Details
Job Title: Editorial Assistant Intern (Ref. EDI – 10/23)
Type: 1-year contract
Responsibilities
As an Editorial Assistant Intern, you will:
- Handle administrative tasks.
- Coordinate with authors, copy-editors, proofreaders, designers, and printers.
- Assist in assembling materials for the journal, Africa Insight, and other AISA publications.
- Collaborate with the Supply Chain Management (SCM) team on financial and procurement matters.
Minimum Requirements
To be eligible for this internship, you should possess:
- An undergraduate degree in Publishing Studies or a related field (a Post-Graduate degree is advantageous).
- Advanced computer skills.
- Proficiency in English, including excellent written and verbal communication.
- Proof of current registration (for registered students).
- Academic transcript.
- A commitment to excellence, attention to detail, and the ability to perform tasks meticulously and accurately.
- An ability to work effectively in a diverse and multicultural environment.
