SAFCOL Announces 2024 Learnership Opportunity for South African Youth. SAFCOL is excited to invite unemployed South African youth, aged 18 to 35, who aspire to build a career in Forestry, to apply for a 10-month learnership program.

This opportunity offers a structured one-year Learnership Programme (NQF Level 3) featuring accredited theoretical and practical training.

  • Application Deadline: November 3, 2023
  • Location: The learners will be based at the official SAFCOL training center in Sabie, Mpumalanga Province.

Successful applicants will receive a monthly stipend for the duration of the learnership.

About SAFCOL

SAFCOL, the South African Forestry Company SOC Limited, is a state-owned enterprise operating under the Department of Public Enterprises (DPE). SAFCOL is primarily engaged in the forestry industry and has operations in various South African provinces and southern Mozambique

. SAFCOL plays a vital role in job creation, supports small businesses, and contributes to social upliftment programs, such as the construction of schools, clinics, and early childhood development centers.

Through its operations, SAFCOL directly and indirectly employs approximately 5,000 people and positively impacts the lives of around 20,000 individuals in communities adjacent to its operations.

SAFCOL Announces 2024 Learnership Opportunity for South African Youth

Preference will be given to previously disadvantaged individuals, people living with disabilities, black females, and youth from communities with which SAFCOL has signed Social Compacts.

Upon successful completion of the Learnership, participants will receive a nationally recognized qualification: General Education and Training Certificate Silviculture NQF level 3.

Learners will gain knowledge and experience that will enhance their employability with forestry companies and contractors, or they can choose to establish their own small, medium, and micro-sized enterprises (SMMEs).

Requirements

To be eligible for this learnership, candidates must:

  • Be South African citizens
  • Be unemployed youth between the ages of 18 and 35
  • Have successfully completed Grade 12
  • Demonstrate a passion for the forestry environment and a willingness to work outdoors
