Job Vacancy of General Workers at SAN Parks | Apply with Grade 12. South African National Parks (SAN Parks) is seeking applications from qualified candidates to fill 37 positions for General Workers at Table Mountain National Park.

This opportunity offers a monthly salary of R9,832.13, and the application deadline is November 8, 2023. The contract period for these positions is from December 15, 2023, to January 15, 2024. General Workers will report to their respective line managers within Table Mountain National Park.

Job Vacancy of General Workers at SAN Parks | Apply with Grade 12

Duties and Responsibilities

General Workers will be responsible for various tasks, including but not limited to:

  • Maintaining and tending to the park’s terrain, gardens, visitor accommodations, day visitor facilities, and access control points.
  • Performing cleaning duties, including ablution blocks, picnic sites, and day visitor areas, adhering to cleanliness standards. This may include laundry duties.
  • Carrying out basic daily administrative tasks as required.
  • Assisting with admission management at park gates throughout Table Mountain National Park.
  • Maintaining tourism facilities, staff accommodations, and ablution blocks as needed.
  • Handling refuse removal and cleaning braai sites as required.
  • Assisting with basic traffic management, access control, and vehicle parking.
  • Disseminating information to visitors.
  • Assisting with basic wildfire suppression if necessary.
  • Conducting visual patrols of the trail network.
  • Assisting with permit inspections and compliance monitoring.
  • Conducting foot patrols and infrastructure inspections within designated areas.
  • Assisting with other ad hoc tasks as instructed by the Supervisor/Management.

Requirements

Applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Grade 12 (Standard 10)
  • 1-2 years of practical work experience in a similar work environment.
  • Basic knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety and First Aid.
  • Possession of a valid driver’s license is an advantage.
  • A valid SARS Tax Reference.
  • A clear criminal record.
  • Proficiency in English and other local languages.
  • Physical fitness and the ability to work long hours on your feet, with exposure to the elements (e.g., sun, rain, and windy conditions).
  • Availability to work weekends and all public holidays between December 15, 2023, and January 15, 2024, as per operational requirements.
