Minopex is hiring a Control Room Operator | Apply with grade 12

A position in this department will be located in Saldanha Bay Municipality in the Western Cape.

Description

This position is responsible for continuously monitoring, reacting, and controlling all equipment and operational processes in accordance with required parameters to ensure the production plant operates safely and effectively according to control principles, operating procedures, and standards.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Control and monitor all process equipment through information received from the Scada system

• Act and respond promptly on process defects as indicated by the Scada system

• Coordinate Process Operators and Attendants on the shift to act promptly on process defects

• Report abnormal and unusual conditions immediately

• Monitor and record process parameters such as flows, pressures, levels, and temperatures to ensure effective operation

• Interact and communicate with all process and engineering staff

• On instruction call-out appropriate maintenance staff

• Complete production log-sheets

• Perform general housekeeping duties

• Evaluate and analyze process parameter trends and make proactive changes to ensure continuous process stability

• Communicate loss of production or process instability to Shift Supervisor

Qualification Requirements

• Grade 12

• National Certificate Mineral Processing Level 2 or equivalent Minerals Processing qualification

Experience and Skills Requirements

• Minimum 3 years’ experience as a Process Operator, preferably within the hydrometallurgical mineral processing industry

• Minimum 2 year’ experience as a Control Room Operator

• Froth flotation process operational experience would be advantageous

• Knowledgeable in the requirements of the MHSA

• English language proficiency

• Computer literacy

• Scada system knowledge

• Time management skills
