Located in Phalaborwa, this position will be based on-site.

Description

It is the responsibility of the position to continually monitor, react, and control all equipment and operational processes according to the required parameters, in order to ensure the plant operates safely and effectively in accordance with control philosophies, operating procedures, and standards.

Duties and Responsibilities

Control and monitor all process equipment through information received from the Scada system
Act and respond promptly on process defects as indicated by the Scada system
Coordinate Process Operators and Attendants on the shift to act promptly on process defects
Report abnormal and unusual conditions immediately
Monitor and record process parameters such as flows, pressures, levels, and temperatures to ensure effective operation
Interact and communicate with all process and engineering staff
On instruction call-out appropriate maintenance staff
Complete production log-sheets
Perform general housekeeping duties
Evaluate and analyze process parameter trends and make proactive changes to ensure continuous process stability
Communicate loss of production or process instability to Shift Supervisor

Qualification Requirements

Grade 12
National Certificate Mineral Processing Level 2 or equivalent Minerals Processing qualification

Experience and Skills Requirements

Minimum 3 years’ experience as a Process Operator, preferably within the hydrometallurgical mineral processing industry
Minimum 2 year’ experience as a Control Room Operator
Froth flotation process operational experience would be advantageous
Knowledgeable in the requirements of the MHSA
English language proficiency
Computer literacy
Scada system knowledge
Time management skills
