Omnia South Africa Seeks General Assistant
The role primarily involves assisting in the preparation, execution, and post-detonation tasks related to explosives truck operations.
Responsibilities include aiding the blaster and truck operator in blast block preparation, product collection and delivery, vehicle maintenance, and ensuring compliance with safety standards.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Refilling truck with raw materials under supervision
- Vehicle maintenance and cleanliness
- Site housekeeping duties
- Ensuring personal and site cleanliness as per safety standards
- Hole inspection and measurement
- Loading holes as per design specifications
- Securing detonator and charging holes
- Assisting truck operator with various tasks related to blasting operations
- Ensuring adherence to safety and quality standards
Qualifications
- Grade 12 with Maths
- Code 10 license (advantageous)
- Blasting Assistant Certificate
- Entrance Medicals
- Inhouse Training
- Magazine Master Ticket (Desirable)
Experience
- Previous experience in blasting/mining environment
- 2 years of blasting assistant experience
Competencies and Skills
- Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
- Strong numerical skills
- Attention to detail
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Report-writing abilities
