Principal Safety Coordinator X2 Posts at the Department of Water and Sanitation

Requirements:

In addition, candidates must possess a relevant degree / national diploma (Safety Management) or equivalent; they must have four (04) years of related construction experience; and they must hold a SAMTRAC/SHEQMAN certification.

Certificate; must be registered with the SACPCMP as a Construction Health and Safety Officer (CHSO) in accordance with OHS Act (85/1993) Construction Regulations : Construction Regulation 8(5) (submit valid proof of competency); possession of the following certificates will be advantageous: Incident Investigation & Risk Assessments;

Auditing, OHSAS18001, ISO14001 and ISO9001; Ability to use Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and the Internet with strong typing skills; Organisational and communication skills; Ability to work independently and as part of a team; Good interpersonal relations and willingness to work after hours when needed. Driver’s license with code 08 required (attach a copy).

Duties:

Performing corrective action investigations, determining root causes, and defining corrective/preventive action measures in Compliance with audited standards; Maintaining and improving Construction South’s Health & Safety Management System;

The responsibility of managing NCRs (Non Conformance Reports) and CARs (Corrective Action Reports); Keeping abreast of industry and regulatory standards; Conducting internal OH&S committee meetings; Initiating and coordinating training plans for new and current employees; Training on site and in the office;

Maintains all forms of risk assessment; Implements and conducts health and safety inspections and audits including documentation of compliance and corrective actions; Monitors implementation and enforcement of H&S requirements; Prepares monthly, quarterly, and annual reports; maintains proper documentation to comply with OH&S record-keeping requirements.

The fields in Part B of the Z83 must be completed by applicants with professional or occupational registrations as these fields are considered compulsory and the applicant’s CV must include such details as well. A SAQA evaluation certificate is required for foreign qualifications (only if shortlisted). A police clearance certificate from the country of origin is required of foreigners or dual citizens (only if shortlisted).
