Sasol is recruiting Engineer-In-Training Programme 2023
We are seeking candidates for a two-year trainee position with Technical Marketing Services (TMS).
During their graduate trainee positions in Technical Marketing Services (TMS), young engineering professionals can gain valuable work experience while performing engineering work in the TMS environment. Graduate trainee positions are non-permanent employment (NPE).
In addition to working as part of a technical support team, engineering graduate trainees will be responsible for conducting technical investigations, researching products and applications, developing and maintaining customer products, assisting engineers with implementation of small projects and monitoring and reporting customer operating conditions.
TMS’s Graduate Development Programme is not similar to this programme because it offers trainees an “on the job” experience.
A trainee engineer working in the TMS area will typically be supervised by a team member with experience in the area and will be expected to perform the following tasks:
Applied Research and Development typical duties:
- Developing innovative products and applications for Sasol Energy customers spanning short, medium, and long-term time frames as part of multifunctional teams.
- Gain and apply product application expertise and knowledge to identify and develop technical solutions that support Sasol’s current and future strategic objectives across the Energy product value chain.
- Work with internal and external stakeholders to develop test and research capacity and utilize Sasol’s resources and facilities.
Maintenance & Project Delivery duties:
- Developing and implementing maintenance strategies and plans based on maintenance data analysis
- The status report, performance report, the payment of the FMC, and the site visit report from the FMC contractor are reviewed
- Investigate and study technical issues on an as-needed basis
- Developing and implementing strategies and plans for project execution.
- Ensure the overall project is compliant with the execution plan (Health, Safety, Quality, Cost, and Schedule).
- Ensure that appropriate project governance applications are being applied to projects.
- Identification, analysis, and mitigation of all risks are essential
Technical Services duties:
- Provide assistance to customers in the areas of technical and process services
- Identifying product non-conformances and quality deviations.
- Providing customers with efficient and effective ways to use products
- Assist the Technical Advisor in providing integrated solutions to reported problems with product performance
- Assist customers with problem solving and identify opportunities for improvement
- Ensure market acceptance and product quality by analyzing, validating, and controlling data
- During customer takeovers, conversions, maintenance and shut downs, operations support activities are performed,
- Provide root cause analysis (RCA) support to Technical Advisors by collecting incident data and participating in studies to investigate failure incidents.
- Assistance with Life Cycle Assessments (LCAs) for products for Technical Advisors
- Investigate and study technical issues on an as-needed basis
- Developing and maintaining training materials for products
Formal Education
- Obtain a bachelor’s degree in engineering or a bachelor’s degree in science within the past three years.
