The South African Police Service Is Recruiting for a Messenger
Requirements:
It is essential that applicants demonstrate competency in the specific functions of the post. Applicants must possess a Grade 10 qualification as well as a valid driving license for light vehicles. Basic literacy, numeracy and communication skills are required.
Reading and writing ability. Willingness to work extended hours. Proficiency in two official languages, including English. South African citizenship is required. No criminal convictions or pending criminal cases are required. In addition to security screening and fingerprint verification, applicants will be subjected to a vetting process.
Duties:
Maintain a daily register of all documentation received and delivered. Obtain and deliver post, make photocopies of documents collected and delivered on a daily basis, maintain confidentiality of all documents, keep a record of circulars received and posted, and manage the post’s human, financial and logistical resources.

The Public Service Act, 1994 (Act No 103 OF 1994) will be applied to the post environment when making appointments. Late applications will not be accepted or considered. Candidates shortlisted for appointment to certain identified posts will be vetted in accordance with the Criminal Law (Sexual Offences and Related Matters) Amendment Act, 2007 (Act No 32 of 2007) and the Children’s Act, 2005 (Act No 38 of 2005). Candidates whose details appear on the National Register for Sexual Offenders or the Child Protection Register will be disqualified.
As of 31 January 2015, all new appointments in the South African Police Service must provide a buccal (inside cheek) sample to determine their forensic DNA profile under the Criminal Law (Forensic Procedures) Amendment Act, Act 37 of 2013. Using the forensic DNA profile from the sample, the National Forensic
DNA Database will create the Elimination Index. Fingerprints and references will be checked on all shortlisted candidates. It is not open to retired Public Service employees who took severance packages, retired early or retired for medical reasons.
