Requirements

Applicants must meet the following criteria:

  1. Grade 12 certificate (NQF 4) or equivalent, along with a three-year B degree/National Diploma in Finance/Accounting and a minimum of two (2) years of experience within a budget management environment in a Finance Clerk role (Level 5) or equivalent.
  2. Alternatively, a Grade 12 certificate with Finance/Accounting-related subjects and a minimum of three years of experience within a budget management environment at a post level 5 or equivalent.

Special Requirements (Skills):

  • Formal training and knowledge of financial management in the Public Service/Private Sector.
  • Strong communication, analytical, innovative, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven computer literacy (MS Office) and knowledge of public financial management.
  • Knowledge of Departmental Financial Management system (FMS) or any other financial system, report writing system (IC), Departmental Accounting, Standard Chart of Accounts, Conventional Service Writing, and staff work is essential.
  • Knowledge of Costing, Occupational Health and Safety (NOSA), and Supply Chain Management is advantageous.

Duties and Responsibilities

As a Chief Accounting Clerk, your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing financial management services in your area of responsibility.
  • Supporting the execution of the financial plan and applying Budget Management policies and instructions.
  • Customizing financial aspects of the commander’s brief and assisting with the preparation of the Estimate of Expenditure (EOE).
  • Participating in the process to finalize the Annual Performance Plan (APP) and providing budget control services.
  • Offering financial management advice and direction for informed decision-making.
  • Supporting financial reporting requirements and ensuring compliance with financial governance, risk, and compliance (GRC) standards.
  • Administering allocated resources and participating in a well-administered budget management human resource component.
  • Complying with Occupational Health and Safety standards within allocated facilities.
