2024 SANBI Postgraduate Student Bursaries

2024 SANBI Postgraduate Student Bursaries. The South African National Biodiversity Institute (SANBI) invites applications for postgraduate student bursaries for 2024.

The closing date for submissions is 18th January 2024. These bursaries are available for South African citizens pursuing Honours, Masters, and Doctoral studies aligned with SANBI’s mandate.

Eligible candidates, under 35 years old and not employed, will receive financial support covering living expenses and university fees.

The South African National Biodiversity Institute is dedicated to biodiversity research, information dissemination, and management of the country’s biodiversity resources.

SANBI plays a pivotal role in sustainable development by providing access to biodiversity data, fostering knowledge creation, capacity building, policy guidance, and conservation efforts through national botanical and zoological gardens.

Scholarship Value

The scholarship values vary based on the level of study:

  • Honours: R120,000 for one year
  • Masters: R150,000 per year for two years
  • Doctoral: R180,000 per year for three years

2024 SANBI Postgraduate Student Bursaries

SANBI announces the call for Honours, Masters, and Doctoral scholarship applications for full-time studies in 2024.

  • Projects aligned with SANBI’s mandate
  • Unemployed status
  • Exclusion of ongoing studies or second degrees
  • Consideration for co-funding if holding partial scholarships/bursaries
  • Honours degree/Postgraduate Diploma required for Masters applicants

  • Comprehensive CV
  • Certified copies of academic records
  • ID copy
  • Two academic reference letters
  • Letter from prospective university and SANBI supervisors indicating willingness to supervise
