Chief Engineer Post at the Department of Water and Sanitation
Requirements:
As recognised by SAQA, candidates must possess a Civil Engineering qualification (B.Eng., B.Sc.Eng, or B.Tech) in the relevant Building Environment NQF-7. A registered Professional Engineer/Technologist with eight (08) years of experience planning and supervising the implementation of water-related infrastructure projects. Registered with the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA).
Registration as a Professional Construction Manager (Pr. CM) with the South African Council for Project and Construction Management Professions (SACPCMP) will be an added advantage. An in-depth understanding of sector legislation. Experience managing large infrastructure projects and managing risk.
Experience managing large water infrastructure projects is desirable. Extensive experience managing contracts. Understanding of procurement processes in construction. Experience in financial planning and management. Knowledge of project risk analysis and risk management. Ability to relate to the associated professional fields in a multidisciplinary manner. Communication skills (verbal and written).
Conflict resolution, contract negotiation, and conflict resolution. Problem-solving and analysis skills. Computer proficiency (such as MS Office and MS Projects). A valid South African driver’s license is required. Ability to work independently, self-motivated, responsible and reliable. Program and project management, Project management skills, Project and professional judgement.
Duties:
As part of the implementation phase of the Clanwilliam Dam project, the incumbent will manage and oversee all aspects of the project. The tasks at hand include quality assurance, project planning, scheduling, contract management, project finances, personnel management, occupational and environmental health and safety, and stakeholder engagement.
Report on project progress, challenges, and mitigation plans. Implement risk management principles and compile risk logs (databases) during project implementation phase.
