About Umalusi Council

Umalusi Council plays a pivotal role in the development and management of qualifications within the NQF levels 1-4 for general and further education and training. This includes quality assurance, research, and certification processes.

The Council operates under the General and Further Education and Training Quality Assurance Act No 58 of 2001, amended in 2008 (GENFETQA Act). Its responsibilities also encompass advising the Ministers of Education on matters related to the General and Further Education and Training Qualifications Framework.

Umalusi is responsible for accrediting private education and training providers and assessment bodies for the General and Further Education and Training Qualifications Sub-Framework (GFETQSF).

Job Opportunity at Umalusi of Administrative Assistant for Public Relations and Communications

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Support the operational plan implementation for the unit.
  • Collaborate with service providers on the branding of corporate promotional materials.
  • Manage procurement, storage, and distribution of corporate gifts, branding materials, and stationery supplies.
  • Offer branding and photography services during organizational events.
  • Provide administrative support for event planning (conferences, seminars, workshops, meetings), logistical arrangements, and resource material preparation.
  • Update multimedia content on LCD screens.
  • Participate in exhibitions and brand activation campaigns.
  • Archive content, including pictures, for future use.
  • Research and stay updated on new trends in corporate promotional material.
  • Establish and maintain an effective filing system.
  • Process claims, photocopy documents, prepare meeting materials, and email documents.
  • Prepare expenditure reports from the Management Information System (MIS).

Qualifications, Skills, and Knowledge

  • NSC Grade 12 or NC (V) Level 4 qualification.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and internet).
  • Project administration skills.
  • Ability to work independently and perform well under pressure.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills for events (conferences, seminars, workshops, meetings, etc.).
  • Understanding of the communication and public relations field, with the ability to conduct research.
