Johannesburg Water is hiring for a Manager
PURPOSE
Develop, implement, and manage strategies, policies, and procedures concerning payroll, remuneration, and benefits, and HRIS, so that salaries are paid correctly and management reports are accurate.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Manage and implement policies and procedures relating to payroll, remuneration, service conditions, and job grading. During formal induction sessions, inform newly appointed staff members of conditions of service on a monthly basis.
Operate and maintain three payrolls for both general and management staff members as well as pensioners. For insourced employees paid by the City of Johannesburg payroll, manage and maintain a separate payroll on SAP HR/PY. Inputs into SAP HR and payroll systems and changes made by consultants are controlled and monitored through audit trial reports drawn monthly.
Make sure that the payment schedules and amounts are correct before authorisation, so that Finance can pay salaries, third party payments, and SARS correctly. During salary survey processes, ensure that information pertaining to remuneration and benefits is provided. Discuss and advise all newly appointed managers, including executive management, on structuring remuneration packages.
Model & remodel ad-hoc remuneration packages in accordance with internal client requirements (management levels DI and above).
Follow up with the Managing Director regarding job grading results and amendments to reporting structures. Prepare ad hoc, monthly and quarterly reports on overtime, absenteeism, man hours worked, standby, employment equity statistics, labour relations, staff movements, etc.
To management, senior management, and executive management. Manage and control the creation of new positions. Implement and maintain software related to organizational reporting structures and specialised reports.
Manage the process of awarding a contract for SAP HR/PY maintenance support every three years and a Payroll Payment Services contract every three years. Whenever necessary, participate in bid committees. Work with third party organisations (medical aids, service providers, pension funds, SARS, UIF, consultants, etc.).
Identify financial budget needs and provide input. Compiles the annual budget. Manages payroll performance management in accordance with company policy.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Essential qualifications and experience:
• Bachelor’s Degree (NQF 7) in Social Sciences/ Psychology/ Industrial Psychology or BTech (HR) • 6 years of leadership and management experience in Remuneration and Benefits, including 2 years overseeing payroll management and SAP Payroll systems. Experience with SAP HR (other SAP modules other than payroll) for at least 2 years.
