Become a part of Anglo American Platinum’s operations as a Professional Nurse in Occupational Health. In this role, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality medical occupational nursing care to patients, focusing on their physical, psychological, and social well-being.

Responsibilities
As a Professional Nurse in Occupational Health, your responsibilities include:
Safety & Health
- Apply Safety & Health principles consistently, ensuring safety for yourself and others.
- Identify and mitigate specific risks within your working area.
- Implement Safety & Health systems within your work area.
- Assess team members’ “fitness for duty” and take necessary action.
- Engage in physical safety checks, interventions, and coaching.
- Report safety deficiencies and create plans to address them.
- Conduct ongoing safety audits to ensure compliance with safety requirements.
Performance & Delivery
- Plan daily activities and tasks to ensure timely completion ahead of deadlines.
- Conduct pre-employment and exit medical examinations as per protocols.
- Perform pre-placement and transfer medicals in accordance with medical examination protocols.
- Provide a baseline health status and determine fitness for duty.
- Report and assist with on-the-job injuries and occupational diseases.
- Assess employees’ ability to work and their health status.
- Maintain and sign medical records.
- Assess, monitor, and support patients with medical conditions affecting their work ability.
Feedback
- Prepare reports according to prescribed standards and distribute them to the relevant supervisor.
Sustainability & Social
- Execute sustainability activities to improve sustainability performance as outlined in the Life of Asset Plan.
- Comply with environmental and social requirements related to your discipline.
- Implement environmental and social risk mitigation techniques as specified in the asset risk management approach.
This role falls under the Safety, Health & Asset Reliability Department at a Band 7 level and reports to the Chief Professional Nurse.
Requirements Qualifications
- Grade 12
- Diploma or Degree in Nursing
- BTech or Diploma in Occupational Health Nursing
- Registered with SA Nursing Council and SASOHN (South African Society of Occupational Health Nursing)
- Certificate in Audiometry, Spirometry, and Vision
- Basic Life Support certificate (advantageous)

Experience
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience as an Occupational Health Nurse in the mining or industrial sector.
- Proficient in administration and record-keeping within legal and ethical parameters.
- Computer literate
- QMed experience is advantageous.
- Excellent people skills, writing, and administration skills.
- Strong communication skills and critical thinking.
- Willing and able to work overtime or be on standby as per operational requirements.
- Must have a driver’s license and access to own transport.
- Certificate of Fitness
