The Department of Public Enterprises Is Hiring for a Projects Assistant

Requirements:

Applicants must possess a relevant undergraduate qualification at NQF level 6 as recognized by SAQA in Project Management/Administration/Economics/BSC/Engineering/BCom. A minimum of five years in the energy field is required. Among the key competencies and attributes that are essential are:

Knowledge of legislation, regulations, frameworks related to Public Service Administration, specifically Public Sector Planning, and organizational skills. Resolving problems and making decisions. Having excellent computer skills in Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, and Project). Being self-motivated, acting pro-active, with good interpersonal skills and a multitasker.

Duties:

Provide logistical and secretarial services. Make sure Meeting/Event Arrangements (such as invites, venues, catering, equipment, etc.) are in place. Ensure that Meeting/Event Arrangements (such as invites, venues, catering, equipment, etc.) are in place.

Provide support for stakeholder engagement and intergovernmental coordination. Provide assistance in engaging stakeholder groups to obtain information and address issues relevant to the Unit. Interdepartmental communication and engagement regarding unit or department issues and information.

Maintain and update stakeholder database. Ensure that action results from stakeholder and interdepartmental engagements are implemented and report on them. Implement specific actions assigned to DPE. Provide technical support to the Unit. Study and review the relevant policy documents (IPAP, NDP, NGP, etc.) pertaining to the activities of the Unit to guide the activities of the Unit.

Assist in drafting proposals, concept notes, TOR, etc. on specific areas of interest to the Unit for analysis. Assist in conducting studies (research and analysis) on sectors or areas of relevance to the Unit. Assess and provide inputs on the technical aspects of relevance to the Unit.

Monitor and evaluate the Unit’s activities to provide progress reports to the DG and Minister. Contribute to the evaluation of the Corporate Plan and other reports from the SOC as necessary. Prepare briefing papers on SOC activities relevant to the Unit based on data and inputs collected from them.

Prepare submissions and monitor their progress with approval, maintaining effective internal administrative processes, and coordinating budgets based on the Unit’s projects. Ensure invoices are paid for services provided. Facilitate planning processes for the Unit. Develop quarterly reports for the Unit.

Coordinate Portfolio of Evidence for the Unit. Arrange travel, travel forms, and claim payments. Maintain records for the Unit.
