Duties and Responsibilities

The responsibilities of the Cleaner [x9 posts] include:

1. Cleaning all areas of the VMMC clinic site, including offices, exam rooms, operating rooms, pre and post-assessment, waiting area counseling rooms, toilets, kitchen, and the entrance hall.
2. Assisting in carrying out infection control guidelines and universal precautions to avoid occupational exposure.
3. Taking reasonable care for the health, safety, and welfare of oneself and other employees in accordance with VMMC site operations.
4. Daily cleaning of the human tissue fridge.
5. Adhering to always wearing safety equipment and clothing.
6. Daily carbolizing of the theatre equipment.
7. Disinfecting all the MMC rooms from reception to the waiting area.
8. Emptying and segregating waste bins at the MMC facility.
9. Daily cleaning of the kitchen, including periodic cleaning of the refrigerator and microwave.
10. Cleaning the specimen refrigerator.
11. Using color-coded mops and cloths for cleaning different areas to prevent cross-infection.
12. Cleaning all rooms in the Mobile Unit to provide VMMC services.
13. Adhering to Infection Prevention and Control Standards.
14. Assisting and serving refreshments as required.
15. Ordering cleaning materials and equipment as needed.
16. Cleaning all staff and client toilets daily and restocking bathrooms with supplies (hand wash, toilet paper, etc.).
17. Responsible for collecting and disposing of waste in the designated facility area.
18. Managing and keeping inventory of all cleaning supplies and materials.
19. Monitoring and ordering cleaning supplies.
20. Assisting in asset management and verification.
21. Keeping stock inventory and managing stock cards.
22. Dilution of the cleaning solution according to the set standard (manufacturing instructions).

Job Requirements

• Grade 8
• Two years of working experience as a cleaner in health facilities.
• Two years of experience in office and facility cleaning.
