Minimum Requirements

  • Education: Grade 12, BSc Degree advantageous.
  • Experience: 0 to 1 years of relevant experience.
  • Relevant Job Knowledge: Computer literacy, laboratory information systems, organizational policy procedures.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Administer the sorting and distribution of samples according to established standard operating procedures, ensuring specimens are correctly prioritized.
  • Process sample registrations and related queries following standard operating procedures.
  • Dispatch specimens for processing according to prescribed procedures, monitor progress, and maintain report filing and query handling within specified turnaround times.
  • Conduct hospital rounds to distribute reports and collect submitted samples in accordance with relevant procedures.
  • Handle and refer administrative queries and customer complaints for prompt resolution.
  • Track sample delivery progress by couriers to ensure specimens reach the designated laboratory on time, adhering to standard operating procedures.
  • Investigate and resolve bottlenecks in pre-analytical laboratory processes.
  • Maintain basic housekeeping in your work area, including equipment cleaning and preparation per standard operating procedures.
  • Monitor stock levels, order necessary supplies, and ensure timely delivery to doctor’s rooms.
  • Represent the organization by upholding customer care principles within the medical pathology field and maintaining professional and ethical interactions with medical professionals and staff.
  • Manage the reception area, provide relevant information, and direct clients to the appropriate departments while delivering excellent customer service.
  • Receive payments from patients and ensure proper banking of monies following relevant procedures.
  • Report incidents, log customer complaints, provide problem solutions, read documents, and complete tasks within the laboratory information management system in accordance with organizational policy.
  • Prepare and scan patient forms into the laboratory scanning system (Oculus) and resolve scanning issues as per standard operating procedures.
  • Adhere to Lancet uniform protocols in line with established procedures.
