Pit Worker Job Opportunity at Exxaro Resources

The Pit Worker role involves ensuring a safe work area for the workforce by performing necessary activities.

Duties and Responsibilities

Effective People Management

• Managing and planning crew activities
• Providing clear instructions and feedback
• Managing leave roster and training schedules

Functional Duties

• Conducting inspections of working areas and recording safety information
• Ensuring proper equipment operation and adherence to shift change procedures

Inspection and Control

• Checking equipment pre-use inspections and documentation compliance
• Monitoring and signing pre-use inspection books per shift

Operational Optimization

• Adhering to operational schedules and optimizing execution time
• Tracking equipment utilization and production targets

Operational Support

• Assisting foreman and team members as required within their competence
• Overseeing area operations and completing assigned tasks

Safe and Healthy Work Environment

• Adhering to health and safety practices and promoting good housekeeping
• Addressing unsafe practices and complying with safety requirements

Behavioural Alignment

Demonstrating key behavioral attributes such as creativity, accountability, agility, inclusivity, and results orientation.

Qualifications and Experience

Qualifications:

• Grade 12/Standard 10 Technical
• Certificate Mine Blasting
• Skills Program: Competent Person A
• Skills Program: Gas Testing
• Certificate: Basic Management Program

Experience:

• 2-3 years of experience as an Operator in an open-pit mining environment

Requirements:

• Psychometric Assessment
• Certificate of Fitness
