The Department of Water and Sanitation Is Recruiting for the Position of Artisan Superintendent, Infrastructure Management
Requirements:
An accredited institution must issue a trade test certificate (Diesel Mechanic, Welding, Boiler Making, or Electrical) and Grade 12 or an equivalent qualification.
Having worked as an artisan in one of the mentioned fields for at least eight (8) years, as well as having managed a manufacturing, electrical, or mechanical workshop for at least three years. As a result, the candidate must possess basic knowledge of fabrication, welding, corrosion protection, mechanical repairs, electrical installations, and be able to provide guidance to subordinates in these areas.
Fleet management, maintenance and repair of vehicles, and construction equipment and plant must be a specialty. It will be necessary for you to have a solid understanding of price analysis, procurement, and invoicing for machine parts and services. You will also need to be familiar with crane and hoisting equipment load testing, pneumatics, hydraulics, and auto electrical repair.
Construction plant and equipment problem solving skills will be of added advantage. Excellent interpersonal and human relations skills are required along with excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Candidates should be computer literate, preferably with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Excellent report writing skills. Pay attention to detail. The ability to work under pressure.
The ability to work independently and as part of a team. Good leadership qualities. Proven experience and knowledge in relation to Human Resource Management.
Proven knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act. The candidate must have Knowledge of Public Finance Management Act (PFMA), Treasury Regulations, Government procurement procedures and other legislation prescripts.An official copy of the candidate’s driver’s license (Code B, C1, C, EB, EC1 or EC) is required..
Duties:
Additionally, the incumbent will be required to visit multiple sites throughout the country as part of his Superintendent duties at the Grootdraai dam construction workshop.
The candidate will be responsible for controlling and arranging the transportation of plant and all equipment logistics, including obtaining any necessary permits and certificates. Control the quality of rebuilds and manufacturing processes.
Obtain licenses and certifications of fitness (COF) for construction equipment and vehicles, and requisition new construction plants and dispose of old ones. Ensure timely completion of maintenance and repairs of construction equipment and plants and that all work is performed in strict compliance with specifications and costs.
Prepare procurement documents for goods and services required. It is important to be capable of identifying conflicts in units, managing them, and resolving them. It is also essential to be able to build morale and group commitment in order to accomplish goals and objectives.
